These are the first eight of a series of short notes on my thoughts concerning the conservation of orchids, which should eventually number about twenty. I started writing these for the South African Orchid Council News Letter, but only one was published on this forum, and two have been published in the McAllen International Orchid Society Journal (TX, USA). The editor of that journal, Dr Bob Ferry has, in his own articles, questioned the motives of people interested in furthering the cause of conservation. What are they wanting to get out of such work?
Perhaps I will start finding personal answers to these questions further on in this series.
